Competent Director of Product Management
Question: "How would you describe a competent director of product management who oversees the product group?"In the Blackblot PMTK Methodology™ the Director of Products role is a highly strategic and encompassing role that is owned by a strategy and process expert who leads the product management team by providing overall product vision, product and market strategies, and team leadership.
This role has solid functional expertise in the product planning and product marketing disciplines, acute strategy formulation expertise, and complete understanding of product management tools and processes.
In PMTK, the product group consists only of product planning and product marketing practitioners , each with different levels of experience, seniority, tenure and expertise. All product people in the solution space, e.g. UX, product design, QA, development, belong to the engineering group.
